The Basque Health Cluster held BHC Eguna (Basque Health Cluster Day), its annual gathering for the life sciences and health sector in the Basque Country. The event brought together companies, technology centers, healthcare organizations, universities, institutions, and professionals from across the Basque health ecosystem, including RPK Medical, a Cluster member.

The program focused on the key challenges and opportunities shaping the sector's future, with emphasis on innovation, collaboration, competitiveness, and the Basque Country's international positioning in the biohealth field.

A Day to Share Vision and Build Alliances

For RPK Medical, BHC Eguna was a day to share vision, build connections, and focus on the opportunities that will define the sector's coming years. The takeaway is clear: the Basque biotech and health ecosystem leaves the event stronger than ever, with a Cluster that continues to gain weight through new initiatives, training programs, a firmer commitment to internationalization, and closer collaboration with institutions and top-tier business partners such as Novo Nordisk, Boehringer Ingelheim, and GSK. Against this backdrop, the Cluster is consolidating its role as a facilitator among the various players in the health system.

General Assembly and Board Renewal

The event opened with the Basque Health Cluster General Assembly, an exclusive forum for member organizations that reviewed the 2025 financial year and renewed the Board of Directors. The session highlighted the Cluster's growth and consolidation as it continues to strengthen its role as a driving force for collaboration, innovation, and competitiveness in the sector.

Institutional Opening

The institutional opening featured remarks from Idoia Muñoz, General Director of the Basque Health Cluster; Asier Albizu, President of the Cluster and CEO of Biolan; and Aritz Uriarte Fuertes, Deputy Minister for Health Administration and Financing of the Basque Government.

In her address, Idoia Muñoz highlighted the evolution of the Basque biohealth ecosystem and the role of clusters as key tools for strengthening business competitiveness. Muñoz argued that "competitiveness is not built by picking winners, but by strengthening ecosystems," and stressed that today's challenges—strategic autonomy, technological sovereignty, talent attraction, and market access—call for "collaboration, alliances, and collective intelligence."

The General Director also emphasized that biohealth is already an economic and industrial reality for the Basque Country, and championed the role of small and medium-sized enterprises within the ecosystem, stating that "defending our SMEs is not a question of size, but a question of national vision." Muñoz called for placing biohealth at the center of the Basque Country's future strategies, noting that "health is industry, skilled employment, innovation, exports, investment attraction, and competitiveness," as well as a driver of well-being and social progress.

RPK Medical's Commitment to the Ecosystem

RPK Medical's relationship with the Basque Health Cluster is led by Álvaro García Nograro, the company's main point of contact with the Cluster, alongside Eduardo Melón, RPK Group's CEO. It is a collaboration that gives rise to big, ambitious projects for RPK Medical.
